Emergency Email and Wireless Network

The Emergency Email and Wireless Network promoted above is definitely well worth consideration - it is something which can be invaluable when there is potential for emergencies.

Most usual time that this is so useful is when severe weather is in prospect - and email giving data on what to expect well ahead of time gives options for making preparations.

The First Email Series

| Emails 1 | Emails 2 | Emails 3 | Emails 4 | Emails 5 | Emails 6 |

This first email here below is probably about the second or third after the beginnings of the whole thing, having been told about what was (seemingly) available. One or two of my earliest replies may be missing but that should not matter - you'll soon get the drift.

Some full header dates are missing too but the flow by date is still easy to judge and care has been taken to try and keep the chronology as accurate as possible. Data was taken from outbox archive and so there may be occasional repeats and also formatting might depend on whether a copy was taken from an archiving text file or, the email folder itself..

Author comments - as here - will be in this red bold thoughout.

Hi Chris,

Here's the list of all they have for sale.
Most of the barrels have their original boxes.
The frames all lock up tight and all of the scopes are clear.
None of them look like they've been fired much if at all.
They told me it was from an estate but I really don't know.
It all looks almost new. Whoever owned them sure took very good care of them.

22 Long Rifle Octagon iron sights
22 Long Rifle Bull Leupold 4x
22 Long Rifle Bull Leupold 8x M8
30 Carbine Octagon iron sights
32-20 WCF Bull Leupold 8x M8
357 Magnum Bull iron sights
357 Magnum Bull Leupold 4x
357 Magnum Bull Burris 7x
357 Herret Bull Redfield 2½x

3 frames

2 extra grips

Is there anything there you're interested in?
I'd like to have the 3 without scopes and the 32-20 could be fun, but my
finances just took a big hit this week. (car repairs)
They were asking $3,995 but I now have him down to $3,500 and I feel that
some crisp Ben Franklins would lower it even further.
I've been thinking of putting the whole shebang on lay-a-way until my tax
refund comes in. IF I do that then whatever I sell off wouldn't happen
until February. I always file rapid refund in January.

Keep in touch,

Bear

Hi fella,

WOW!!!

Well . this seems like something that needs good consideration!!!

Know what . we may yet need to chat on phone ya know (if you can stand a Limey accent and not laugh too hard!! :-) ) My # BTW is (xxx xxx xxxx).
Not sure about the octagons (myself) but ..... my own pref's would sure include .357 with scope ...... 22lr with scope (either) .... an extra frame, or two (? any forends included?)
What are your pref's? (oh you said - duh!) ........ wonder if we did this together whether we could mutually get what we want and .. find outlets for the others. maybe GunBroker etc .
Does sound like from what you say - what you want is not what i want and so .. could be we can work something.?
Give me your honest thought here . i could manage to come up with something like half the pot ..... if I breathe in - hard!!

I'd like to go for this.

Chris,

Limey accent?
LOL Mate, my grandparents were from Blackpool !
Yes there is an extra forend or two.
Check the phone number you gave me. I think your area code has an extra 0?
Where are you? What would be a good time to call you Thursday night?
I talked to the guy again tonight and he told me that they have yet another
frame with 22 barrel that they'd make me a deal on if I wanted it with all
the others.
I'll try and get by there and look at it tomorrow.

What would you be willing to pay for 2 frames, 22 barrel with scope (your
choice), 357 with scope (your choice), 357 Herrett with scope, extra grip
(your choice) and an extra forend?

Hi Chris,

I went up to put the Contenders on Lay-a-way today and ran into a major glitch.
They refused my lay-a-way amount.

There's another guy interested in them. I don't know the guy personally but
have seen him around. He hits the shops and buys up stuff and takes it to
the gun shows. (Just like I used to do.)
My guy in the store couldn't tell me what his offer was but the owner said
he was "thinking about it but it was a little low".
He told me that since I was a regular customer that he would put it all on
l-a-w until my taxes come in but only if I put 20% down.
I don't have that much available right now. If you want the entire lot for
yourself then I'll try and work out a better price for you with them.

Just let me know. I told him I'd let him know what was what Monday morning.

Bear

PS it turns out that the unscoped .357 barrel is actually a T/C .357 Hotshot !
I haven't seen one of those for at least 15 years.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Bear,
Hmm .... well I guess with the size of this selection .. maybe not over surprised.
So, 20% .. well, how quick could I get some funds to you?? If I front the layaway amount so we have this lot secure .. and assuming here we are still talkin the $3500 .... (guess this other guy is trying for significantly less) then you need $700 yeah? .... what do you think?
Do you have a paypal account? if you did have that then I could transfer enough to cover that real quick . otherwise it'd be ages with a cashier's check or similar.
OTOH ..... and depending on your degree of interest for some of the stuff ...... if I were to take all (and that's pushin the finances but could probably fiddle it) guess you could always see if it was possible to find a figure for me thru him . if not too much problem.. That way he could have a done deal the moment he got a cashier's check from me .... and so shift it all on quick. Gotta be worth a bit more discount!!
Guess if i did that then maybe even afterwards you could still have some of what you wanted . but later on when your funds get thru.
Give me your thoughts dude . I may not be over late quitting tonight - been a heavy day. I'll get back to you tomorrow tho otherwise. Give me your thoughts re all our options eh
(Hotshot?? never heard of that one!!)
Chris,
Actually he's wanting $800 down but I already have $100. That's what I was
going to put down today. I am still more than willing to go half but I just
don't have any extra cash right now witht he car repair and the holidays
coming. My roomies daughter's 18th birthday is Dec 3rd.
The .357 hotshot was a ported .357 magnum barrel with a screw in choke for
shotshells.
In the late 70's F-troop was giving T?C grief over their .45Colt/.410
barrel. So they stoped chambering the barrel for .410 but left the choke.
At the same time they introduced the .357 Hotshot and .44 Hotshot. They wer
standard .357 & .44 magnum cases but they have LONG shot capsules. The
capsules were almost as long as the case. They worked as good as a .410 but
were only usable in a single shot. F-troop finally gave in and agreed that
no laws were broken after all. T/C dropped the hotshots since they didn't
sell all that well anyway and went back to chambering the .45 for .410. The
Hotshot barre;s were made in two versions. One had a high vent rib like a
shotgun with folding sights and the other looked like a standard bull
barrel only ported.
The .44mag sold decent numbers but the .357 is rare.
No you know all about the Hotshot. LOL Probably more than you wanted.
Also Midway has, on page 282 in their catalogue, Virgin Valley Custom Guns
Steel 6-Hole Scope Base Thompson Center Contender.
Blue #859-728 $34.18
Matte #167-591 $34.18
Stainless #877-360 $43.82
Stainless Matte #438-585 $43.82
They're CNC machined from bar stock and fit the 4 holes on the barrel.
Tthey have 2 extra holes for heavier mounting. Accept 2 or 3 Weaver rings
Thx for the info on the Hotshot .. damn .. old as I am I can always learn .... good info. Thx too re the scope base info.
Hey . you made no mention re paypal .... as i said that is quickest way to get you funded for a LAW. get back to me on that will ya .. in fact any way that I can get funds your way .. for now as well as later.
If I can make up what's needed for LAW you can go ahead on that - or . still see what deal could be done for me to take the lot .. and then feed back stuff to you when you want and can - once funds there. Thoughts on this ..... ??
Nov 24 2003 was the first Money Order date, for $800.00 - see image of that on the Support Pic's page.
All looking OK so far? Well, seemed so even though it seemed the whole process would take some time. No matter, the final result seemed worth waiting for.
